Just a month ago, Apple unveiled its new entry-level 10th-generation iPad. You can now buy it with a $50 discount, but the worthwhile discount currently applies to the previous iPad version.
Today you can get the 9th generation iPad for the record-low price of only $270. This iPad is also called the iPad 2021. You can buy it at this price, both on Amazon and at BestBuy. It has 64GB of internal memory, a 10.2-inch screen, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), an 8MP rear camera, a 12MP front camera, and stereo speakers. It is also likely the last iPad with a physical home button with Touch ID for biometric authentication. The iPad runs on the A13 Bionic chip, also used in the iPhone 11 and the second-generation iPhone SE.
However, there are some shortcomings in this tablet. Unlike other more expensive models, the iPad 2021 still has a Lightning charging port rather than USB Type-C, like the new iPad, Mac, and many other devices. It has a slower transfer rate and slower charging. Although if you are an iPhone user, the Lightning cable probably won’t be much of an issue for you. This model also only supports the first-generation Apple Pencil.
The 10.2-inch iPad is still great for web browsing, streaming media, gaming, and productivity if the above isn’t a problem. It has a rich Apple Ecosystem, many accessories, software, and more. Besides that, this tablet will likely still get iPadOS updates for at least a few years – it’s already the 9th generation, and the iPadOS 16 updates released this year still support the 5th generation model.
