Samsung’s OLED TVs in 2024 come in several variants. There are three basic models: S85D, S90D, and S95D. These models are available in almost all countries. In addition, for example, you can also find other models, such as the S92D or S94D, in Europe. This article will help you navigate various Samsung OLED TV models.

Comparison of the base models: S85D, S90D and S95D

Starting in 2024, Samsung’s most popular TV models—the S85D, S90D, and S95D—can be equipped with LG-supplied OLED panels. Samsung currently makes OLED panels in three sizes: 55, 65, and 77 inches. Those considering buying a 42, 48, or 83-inch TV can rest assured that these TVs have LG panels.

S85D: This is a continuation of last year’s model. The S85D has a minimalist audio system with only two speakers and no dedicated subwoofer. Also, the panel frequency is limited to 120Hz.

S90D: The S90D offers a marked improvement with an increased panel refresh rate of 144Hz, specifically designed for use as a monitor with gaming consoles. However, it is worth noting that this frequency is not supported for standard video content. For models with a screen size of 48 inches or larger, the S90D also boasts an enhanced audio experience that includes a two-speaker system and a subwoofer.

S95D: The S95D takes sound quality to a new level with a 4.2.2-channel audio system. This configuration supports full Object Tracking Sound (OTS), enhancing the immersive viewing experience.

Differences between Samsung OLED models in Europe 2024

In Europe, the variety of Samsung OLED models, such as the S85D, S90D, S92D, S93D, S94D and S95D, seems designed to limit the movement of TVs across countries. From a technical standpoint, releasing so many models with minimal differences is unnecessary. The physical differences are mainly in the number of speakers and some limitations imposed by the operating system. In addition, marketing strategies often introduce features such as OLED HDR+, although no such standard exists.

So, except for the difference in the number of speakers, the different models are almost identical and when buying, focus more on the price than the model number.
