To boost OLED TV shipments this year, Samsung Electronics has expanded the range of white (W)-OLED panels supplied by LG Display. These panels now come in sizes 42, 48, 55, 65, 77 and 83 inches. Last year, only a few tens of thousands of 83-inch TVs were sold. Samsung Electronics’ OLED TVs this year feature both quantum dot (QD)-OLED from Samsung Display and W-OLED from LG Display in the 55-, 65- and 77-inch models. Samsung Display’s QD-OLED lineup is limited to only 55-, 65- and 77-inch TV panels. So if you are buying a 42, 48 or 83-inch OLED TV only LG’s OLED panels are used in these TVs.

Samsung’s 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch TVs will feature mixed OLED panels. Samsung said that these TVs will also use LG’s OLED displays (a press conference to launch the new products was held on March 13, 2024, at the Samsung Electronics Korea office building). As always, Samsung is modestly silent on which panel will be offered to you in these sizes, but here’s some information about the bundling of Samsung OLED TVs with displays in 2024.

Samsung OLED TVs, panel manufacturer list (US)

For the North American market, Samsung TVs are manufactured in Mexico, and in 2024 you will be able to buy OLED TV models S85D, S90D, S95D.
The S85D TVs were supposed to use LG-made screens: in Europe, these models will be equipped with LG displays, while in the US, they will be equipped with previous-generation QD OLED panels from Samsung.

In other countries the situation is quite similar, as it was announced by Samsung in 2024 is planned to sell 2 million OLED TVs, which is 1 million more than in 2023, to realize these plans and decided to buy WOLED panels from LG. Samsung is not yet able to ensure the production of the required number of large displays.
