We already have an article explaining Samsung Neo Quantum processors and what is it, so you can read if you’re interested in. However, many are curious about the tech specs in Neo Quantum Processors in Samsung TVs. Samsung gives only information that the 2021 TVs will be equipped with Neo Quantum processor 4K and Neo Quantum processor 8K. The cheapest QLED TVs come with the Quantum Processor 4K Lite.

Neo Quantum processor 8K vs Quantum Processor 4K vs Quantum Processor 4K Lite

These three processors differ in the integrated graphics processor and, accordingly, which screen resolution is supported by the TV. There are basic parameters of the TV and depending on this the required processor is selected. Among these parameters are frame rates and screen resolution. These are the two main specs, but there are also secondary ones such as the HDMI port standards supported.
You should understand that Neo Quantum processor 8K, Quantum Processor 4K Lite, Quantum Processor 4K Lite are just commercial (marketing) processor names invented by Samsung, they aren’t technology names.
I repeat this in almost every article not to belittle Samsung and its technology, but to explain that the Neo Quantum processor (or any other name) is primarily what Samsung calls its developments.

Neo QLED processor in Samsung TVs tech specs

Samsung uses processors made by MediaTek in its TVs. Samsung doesn’t make processors for TVs, so Samsung doesn’t make processors for televisions, all processors are supplied by third companies.

Now if we look at the list of processors Mediatek makes for TVs. We will find out what processors can be installed in Neo QLED TVs Samsung. In fact, there aren’t many processors and if we look at the specifications, we can understand what processors are used in the Samsung TVs.

Neo Quantum processor 8K specifications

The Neo Quantum processor 8K is a MediaTek S900 (MT9950) processor. This processor features support for 8K screen resolution. The processor is built on Arm Cortex-A73 cores with a frequency of 1.8GHz, 4 cores, a graphics processor Arm Mali-G52 MC2 0.8Ghz. With the 96-bit LPDDR4 memory, the processor supports a maximum of 8.5GB of memory, the memory runs at 3.7GHz.

Neo Quantum processor 4K specifications

The Neo Quantum processor 4K supports a frame rate of 120 per second. MediaTek produces two basic processors with such specs – MT9613, MT9612.

Those are basic CPUs, for large TV makers can produce processor modifications. For example, the QN90A TV model supports the broadcast standard ATSC 3.0. This TV uses a modification of the processor specifically designed for Samsung.

      • I see. Thank you for your reply. I’ve heard there’s only 2GB of ram in the QN700A which isn’t nearly enough. Can you shed any light on that? Thanks

  1. As you sure this information ?
As I know, SS used their own Soc in higher, premium range and for lower/entry, they used Novatek Soc..

  2. I think you have a typo in the top section for: Neo Quantum processor 8K vs Quantum Processor 4K Lite vs Quantum Processor 4K Lite. “These three processors differ in… You should understand that Neo Quantum processor 8K, Quantum Processor 4K Lite, Quantum Processor 4K Lite are just…”

Believe you meant the second processor type to be Quantum Processor 4K. And not another Lite entry.
