How does Among Us proximity chat mod work
The CrewLink mod in the game “Among Us” allows you to verbally talk to players who are close to you in the game. This way you can hear everyone in the waiting lobby, but everyone’s sound level will change as the game starts – the closer a player is to you, the louder they will sound, even through the walls. If your team members are farther away, their voice will be quieter, or not audible at all.
This gives the game a certain tension and drama: your friends’ voices are suddenly silenced when they are murdered, or when you scream for help when you are being chased. It also makes emergency encounters incredibly chaotic as players hurry up to be heard.
How to download and install the CrewLink
First of all, if you want to play with Among Us proximity chat mod, you have to download and install the latest version of CrewLink from GitHub. To do this, just follow these steps:
- Navigate to the “Installation Instructions” section of the mod web page;
- Click on the “releases” link. The latest version of the app appears in the top of the web page;
- After that, find “Assets” and click the first link under it. It should be the .exe file;
- Once you’ve done these steps, the download will begin.
Next, save the .exe file somewhere where you can find it. After that, you have to open this file. You may see antivirus warnings, in which case select the option that allows you to continue. Once the installation is complete, which will only take a few seconds, the program will automatically open. After that, you will be able to use the mod in the game.
You will also need to make sure that the game is updated to the latest version.
How to use the Among Us proximity chat
After installation, the mod can be turned on by starting the game and joining the lobby. In the menu, navigate to the game settings and check the box next to “Voice activity”.
When you return to the main menu page, you should see a green ring around your character while talking. Other players in your lobby will be displayed below yours. If they also have a mod installed and are talking, you should also see a green ring around their avatars. Otherwise, they will be displayed with a red ring. After enabling the mod, you can switch to the push-to-talk mode in the settings if you want.
