Upgrading Hulu is changing its basic plan to a better one. Many people upgrade their current subscription to get rid of ads on Hulu. Hulu gives its users a choice of four plans with different costs. Two of them are ad-free.
You can also upgrade your Hulu subscription by adding Add-ons. There are 10 in total, including access to other streaming content, several Spanish channels, access to sports, and unlimited screens.

How to change the Hulu plan?

In order to change the Hulu plan, you need to follow these steps:
- Log into your account on the Hulu website.
- In the top right corner, click on the profile icon and select the “Account” section from the drop-down list.
- Select “Manage Plan.”
- Select the plan you want and then click “Review changes“.
- Then, confirm your changes and follow the instructions.
At the same time, you can switch to the student discount plan even if you’re already a Hulu subscriber.
In the same section, you can cancel your subscription or take a pause for a few weeks.
How to upgrade Hulu through Amazon?
If you originally purchased your Hulu subscription through Amazon, you can manage or upgrade your Hulu plan directly from your Amazon account. Here’s how it works:
- Log in to your Amazon account.
- Go to “Your Memberships and Subscriptions.”
- Find Hulu in the list of your current subscriptions.
- Select the “Manage Subscription” option.
- In this section, you will see the different upgrade options available to you. Select your desired plan or add-on.
Your Amazon account will be charged for the new plan or add-on. You will then have access to the features or content you selected when you upgraded.
Upgrade Disney Bundle through Amazon
Third-party billing works differently. In the case of Hulu and Amazon, there are certain limitations to consider.
While the Disney Bundle offers a combination of Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, subscribers who paid for Hulu through Amazon can’t just upgrade to that bundle through Hulu.
If you want access to the Disney Bundle, you can subscribe directly through Disney+. Or cancel your subscription through Amazon and subscribe through the Hulu website.
How to upgrade Hulu through Apple?
If Apple directly bills you for Hulu, you’ll need to follow these steps on a Mac to upgrade your subscription:
- Open the App Store on your Mac.
- In the top right corner, click Account Settings.
- Scroll down to the Manage section.
- Click Manage.
- Click the Edit button next to the subscription you want to change.
- Choose a different subscription option.
On your Apple TV:
- Open Settings on your Apple TV.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Then select your account.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Choose the subscription that you want to change.
- Choose a different subscription option.
On iPhone:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name.
- Then tap Subscriptions.
- Select Hulu subscription.

Upgrade Disney Bundle through Apple
Hulu subscribers who pay for their plan through Apple cannot upgrade to the Disney Bundle through Hulu. If you want access to Disney Bundle, you’ll have to subscribe directly through Disney+.
It works the same way with Live TV. If you want access to a Live TV plan,, you must subscribe to Hulu directly, not Apple.
How to upgrade Hulu through Roku?
In order to upgrade Hulu through Roku, you need to follow these steps:
- Open the Hulu app on your Roku device.
- Press your profile icon located in the top right corner.
- Navigate to the Account section.
- Then to Subscription.
- Here, you can choose a new payment plan or add add-ons available to your account.
- Review the payment details and select “Submit” to confirm your changes.
Upgrade Disney Bundle through Roku
Hulu subscribers paying through Roku cannot upgrade to the Disney Bundle through Hulu. You must subscribe directly through Disney+ to access this bundle.
How to upgrade Hulu through Spotify?
If you’re a Spotify Premium for Students subscriber, you only get access to Hulu’s ad-supported basic plan.
To upgrade to Hulu (ad-free), Hulu + Live TV, or add any add-ons, you will need to subscribe directly on the Hulu website, without Spotify. But the student discount doesn’t work for the ad-free plan. For that, you’ll have to pay full price.
How to upgrade Hulu through Xfinity?
If you’re a Comcast customer and use an Xfinity Flex or X1 device, you can pay for your Hulu subscription directly through your Comcast Xfinity account.
- Open Settings on Xfinity.
- Go to the Applications and Subscriptions section.
- Select Hulu or Hulu (ad-free).
Upgrade Disney Bundle through Xfinity
If you want to subscribe to Disney Bundle, Hulu + Live TV, or add any add-ons, you will need to make that subscription directly through Hulu. Existing Comcast Xfinity subscribers who wish to do this must first finalize their current Hulu subscription through Xfinity.
How to get Add-ons on Hulu?
Hulu offers additional packages and services known as Add-ons. Additional content packs or features can be added to your basic Hulu subscription. Examples of such add-ons include Hulu + Live TV, Ad-free, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and others.
To get ADD-ONS on Hulu, you need to follow these steps:
- Log into your account on the Hulu website.
- In the top right corner, click on the profile icon and select the “Account” section from the drop-down list.
- Locate and select the “Manage Add-ons” option.
- This section will list all available add-ons.
- Click on the “+” icon next to the one you need.
- Then, confirm your changes and follow the instructions.
Once you add an add-on, its cost will be automatically added to your monthly fee. Content from added add-ons becomes available for viewing immediately after activation.
If you decide that you no longer want to use an add-on, you can easily remove it. To do so, follow the same steps but toggle the slider back.
