The Crunchyroll app has been available on Samsung Smart TVs running TizenOS since February 2024, but not on all TVs. If your TV does not support the app, there are other ways to watch, such as:

Crunchyroll app on Samsung TV
Not all Smausung TVs support the Crunchyroll app. The application is available for TVs starting in 2017 with the Tizen 3.0 operating system. If you have a Samsung QLED TV, the application is supported. Since you can’t find out the OS version on your TV, here is a list of Samsung TV models that support the app.

Pay attention to the NU7000, MU6100 models, although these are 2017 TVs, they have a 2016 OS installed and therefore do not support Crunchyroll.

How to Install the Crunchyroll App on a Samsung TV
Open the app store and search for Crunchyroll, and you will be shown an app shortcut; install this app on your TV.
If you need help finding the app, but you know your TV is after 2017 and the app should be there, but it isn’t, then your TV most likely needs a software update.
Although the app store is constantly updated when you turn on your TV, your TV’s operating system may need to be updated. Suppose your TV has not received the latest updates. In that case, when you download the app store, the application may not be present because the system has checked and determined that it does not work with this version of the OS (some necessary script libraries may be missing).
How to cast Crunchyroll on Samsung TV via iPhone or Android
The Crunchyroll app has a Cast option. You can cast videos to your Samsung TV using AirPlay or Chromecast. But this doesn’t make much sense, since these technologies have been supported by Samsung TVs since 2018, which means you can get the application on such a TV and you don’t need to use two devices to watch Crunchyroll. But if you do use this viewing scheme, it’s important to remember that your smartphone and Samsung TV must be connected to the same network, such as the same Wi-Fi hotspot.
Mirroring Crunchyroll through the mobile app
- Open Crunchyroll on your smartphone and play the content you want to watch on your Samsung TV.
- Then tap on the Cast icon in the playback menu.
- Finally, select your Samsung TV from the list and wait for sync.
The video should appear on your TV. If not, try the following option.
How to watch Crunchyroll on older pre-2017 Samsung TVs
If you have a Samsung TV released before 2017, then you can get Crunchyroll on such TVs in several ways, for example, Crunchyroll can be watched on TVs through Prime Video or using other devices.
Watch Crunchyroll via Amazon Prime. The Amazon Prime app has been running on Samsung TVs since 2012, so you can subscribe through Prime. While you can get Crunchyroll on TVs from 2012 to 2016, Prime doesn’t work on TVs made before 2012, and not all 2012 models support Prime Video.
Watch Crunchyroll through another device connected via HDMI. If you have an older TV, chances are you already use a streaming device to watch videos. You can use many devices, for example:
- APPLE TV – You can search for the Crunchyroll app and install it.
- ROKU – You can find the Crunchyroll channel and install it.
- AMAZON FIRE TV – You can install Crunchyroll on your device.
- Google TV – The Crunchyroll app can be found on set-top boxes that use Google TV.
- Android TV – Android TV boxes can also play Crunchyroll.
- Laptop – You can connect your laptop to your TV via HDMI.
- Windows – TV boxes running the Windows operating system can also play Crunchyroll.
The advantage of this method is that you can watch on almost any Samsung TV if it has an HDMI input. However, there are some nuances that may arise. For example, if the video is protected by a newer version of the copy protection protocol (HDCP), you will not be able to watch it on very old TVs with previous protocol versions, such as HDCP 1.4, which is not compatible with newer protocols. These are typically TVs manufactured between 2000 and 2010.
