Samsung TVs offer a variety of ways to view content, including an antenna input for TV programs, HDMI connections for streaming devices, and built-in apps. Many people also use Samsung TVs as displays for game consoles. Switching back to regular TV programs most often involves selecting the source, but there are faster and more efficient ways.
How to Switch to TV Mode on a Samsung TV
Quick Way: Switching to the Antenna Input
All Samsung TVs have the antenna input set as the primary signal source by default. You can quickly switch to TV mode with this simple trick:
- Press and hold the Return button on the remote control for more than a second.
- You will be prompted to reset the current connection.
- Confirm the action, and the TV will switch back to displaying TV channels.
This method is fast and provides a standard return to TV mode.
Another option is to simply turn the TV off and on, as it defaults to the antenna input when it starts up. If your TV has a system activated to control devices via HDMI (such as game consoles or streaming devices), it may automatically switch to the active HDMI port.
Advanced Settings: Switching via the Source Menu
You can also manually change the input source through the TV’s main menu. Here’s how you can do it:
- Press the Home button on the remote control.
- Go to the Source menu.
- A list of available input sources such as HDMI, TV, and AV will appear on the screen.
- Use the arrow buttons on the remote control to select the TV input.
This method takes a little longer, but it gives you the ability to directly select between all connected devices and input sources.
Using Voice Control: Bixby and Alexa
If your TV has a smart remote control that supports voice control, you can use Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, to switch the input source. Just press the microphone button on the remote and speak:
- “Switch input source to TV”
Alternatively, if you have integrated your TV with Alexa, simply say:
- “Alexa, switch {TV name} to TV mode”.
