How to fix Samsung LED TV blurry screen

People don’t buy Samsung TVs just because it’s one of the most popular brands but because they know the quality will be high. However, sometimes for various reasons, the quality of the picture can deteriorate. If you encounter such a problem, you shouldn’t immediately run to the service center. You can try to solve it at home yourself.

There are many methods to fix a blurry picture on your Samsung LED TV. It all depends on the cause. For example, you can start by checking if the cable from your set-top box is tightly connected. If the blurry screen remains after reconnecting the cable, you’ll have to resort to other, perhaps a little more complicated, solutions.

So let’s take a closer look at why a blurry screen can happen on your Samsung TV and how to fix it.

Why do you have a blurry screen on Samsung LED TV?

The causes of this problem can be both hardware and software. Often it can be due to an incorrect resolution setting. In addition, a faulty HDMI or a bug in the OS can also cause a blurry screen.

Also, if you have a weak Internet connection, the quality of a streaming service or YouTube, for example, may automatically drop. That’s why you should always check whether the router is close to your Samsung TV and whether the Internet connection is stable. Alternatively, you can try resetting your router to ensure it’s not the problem.

Fortunately, you can fix most of these problems.

Soft reset your Samsung LED TV

The idea behind a soft reset is that it completely shuts down the TV and reboots it, rather than just putting it into standby mode. There are two ways to do this.

  • You can press and hold the Power button on the remote control until your Samsung TV turns off and on again. It should take about 5 seconds.
  • And you can unplug the TV for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

After that, turn on your Samsung LED TV and check if the screen is still blurry. You should also disconnect and reconnect all your cables. Make sure they are connected tightly.

Change your Samsung LED TV aspect ratio

The zoom settings can sometimes cause the image to appear stretched and fuzzy. If you accidentally change these settings, you may want to return them. So if you want to change the aspect ratio on your Samsung LED TV, you can follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings and select Picture.
  • After that, select Picture Mode.

It will ensure the correct aspect ratio (16:9), screen fit, and TV position.

Reset picture settings

If you want to reset the picture settings on your Samsung LET TV, you can follow these instructions:

  • Go to Settings and select Picture.
  • Then select Expert Settings.
  • Finally, click Reset Picture.

Now, check whether your Samsung LET TV screen is blurry. If it doesn’t help, move to the next paragraph.

Update your Samsung LED TV

Sometimes updating your Samsung LED TV can help fix a bug that causes a blurry screen. So do the following:

  • Press the Home button and go to Settings.
  • Then navigate to the Support section and select Software Update.
  • Finally, select Update Now.

You can also set up the automatic update function. In this case, you don’t have to constantly check that the OS version of your Samsung TV is up to date.

Check your Internet connection

As mentioned above, a poor Internet connection can lead to lower video quality in streaming apps or YouTube. You should check the network from other devices and your router to fix this problem.

To do this, I recommend you to visit the Speedtest website with your PC or laptop or download the app to your smartphone. It is available in both the App Store and Google Play. With Speedtest, you can check the speed of your Internet connection. If it’s missing, here’s what you can do.

Reboot your router

You can reboot your router by plugging it out for 10-15 seconds and back in. Also, this can be done in almost all routers using the admin panel. Honestly, this method is safer, and I would recommend it. Here’s how:

  • Open your web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  • Press Enter to visit this webpage.
  • After that, enter your credentials to sign in to your router admin panel (default login: admin; default password: admin).
  • Then find the Reboot option and click on it.

Keep in mind that these steps may differ depending on the router model. If rebooting doesn’t help, you can try resetting it to factory defaults.

How to reset your router

You can do this with a special button on the router (if there is one) or using the admin panel.

You will find a reset button on the back panel of your router. To press it, you need a thin object like a clip. Press and hold it for 5-10 seconds. The router should reboot, and you can configure it again.

To do the same through the admin panel, follow these general steps:

  • Open your web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  • Press Enter to visit this webpage.
  • After that, enter your credentials to sign in to your router admin panel (default login: admin; default password: admin).
  • Finally, find the Reset option and click on it.

Once you reset the router, set it up again. Now, go to your Samsung TV and check whether its screen is still blurry.

If none of the solutions worked for you, then the problem is probably more severe. In this case, the best solution is to contact Samsung Support for help.
