The modern standard for a good and high-quality TV is the presence of a Smart TV system. It has become apparent to many users that the availability of applications and various services right inside the TV makes interaction very easy. Also, there is no need to buy different set-top boxes or video players. Modern TV can find the desired movie on the Internet and start watching it. In terms of Smart TV functions, everything is particularly good with Samsung TV. Consumers appreciate this brand’s quality and excellent operating system that supports all the necessary applications.
However, when you have just purchased your Samsung TV, you may find that there are already too many apps preinstalled. Therefore, many users have questions about how they can uninstall preinstalled apps. It is almost impossible to remove apps that Samsung has preinstalled on your Smart TV. To do this, you will need to use various hacks, which do not guarantee the result. Let’s examine why this happens and how you can eliminate preinstalled applications.
Is it possible to delete preinstalled apps on Samsung TV?
Your Samsung TV may have completely different apps pre-installed. This often depends on the distribution country and your Samsung TV model. Most often, these are different streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, or services like Hulu. For example, Hulu may only be pre-installed in the U.S., as it is unavailable in other regions. Similarly, a local streaming app can be pre-installed on your Samsung TV.
However, if it comes to the fact that you do not need all these streaming apps and you want to free up space on your TV or remove them so they do not clutter up your menu, then it is not so easy to do. The thing is that Samsung’s policy about such applications implies that you can’t remove them. I would say that often this is because such applications are tied to the buttons on the remote control, and if you remove them, the buttons will stop working. However, this is just a guess.
There is a way to remove this application I found on the Internet, but its authors point out that it is a bug and does not work on all Samsung TVs. So there is no official way to remove the application, which was pre-installed by the manufacturer. However, I would still try to remove the application, as it often can be that it is not pre-installed by Samsung, and the seller installed it as an advertisement. In this case, the application can be freely removed, and any other that you have installed yourself.
How to delete preinstalled apps on Samsung TV using Deep Link Test
Let’s discuss a way that allows you to “hack” your Samsung TV and unlock the removal of pre-installed apps. Once again, I would like to point out that this method does not work on all Samsung TVs and may not work with your model. Note that these applications have a Remove button, which is grayed out and can not be clicked. Samsung TV users claim that it is possible to bypass this restriction in this way:
- Hold down the Home button on the remote,
- Then go to Apps.
- Here you need to click on the Number and enter there 12345.
- You will see Developer mode in front of you. Toggle it to On.
- To do this, click on OK to enable it.
- Now press Close.
- Go to Settings and select the app you want to uninstall.
- Press the Lock/Unlock button and enter the password 0000. A lock icon appears on the app.
- Navigate to Deep Link Test.
- From the popup menu, select Content id and enter any text there.
- Click Done.
- You’ll now need to write a password. However, you should select Cancel.
The delete button should then be available. This way, you can unblock uninstalling apps for your Samsung TV. Note that this method works only on newer Samsung TV models.
