Everyone has said or written something once that they would like to delete or take back. The same goes for communication on social media and messengers. Sometimes you may send someone a message that was meant for another person or shouldn’t have been sent at all. However, if you use Snapchat, you can delete messages before the recipient reads them.

Snapchat developers have given users the ability to delete sent messages not only from their devices but from the entire conversation to which they have access. The new delete message feature removes messages not only from our conversation window but also from conversations on the recipients’ side. If you delete a message quickly enough, a friend won’t be able to read it.

So, here’s how to delete a message on Snapchat in a few easy steps.

How to delete a Snapchat message

If you want to delete a message before it’s read, you should do it quickly enough. Deleting a message that has already been read won’t do you any good, because you have no way to undo what someone has already seen.

However, if you react in a timely and quick manner by deleting the message before it’s read, it won’t reach the recipient and cannot be recovered or read in any way.

To do this, you must have the latest version of the Snapchat app, which you can download from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

So, if you want to delete a message on Snapchat, you have to follow these steps:

  1. First of all, open the Snapchat app on your mobile device.
  2. Then, sign in to your Snapchat account using your credentials, if necessary.
  3. Tap on the “Chat” icon at the bottom left corner of the screen.
  4. After that, select the conversation that contains the message you want to delete.
  5. Next, long-tap on the message and select the “Delete” option from the popup menu.
  6. Finally, tap on the “Delete” button again to confirm the action.

Once you have completed these steps, your message will be deleted from the conversation with your friend on Snapchat.

However, it’s also worth remembering that even though the content of the message will be deleted and your friend won’t see it, a message will appear on the conversation screen stating that there was a message in that location and it was deleted by you.

However, in this situation, you can always say that you sent something by accident and then you just deleted it so as not to clutter up the conversation.

How to set up automatic deletion of snaps on Snapchat

If you have sent a snapshot, you will find out that the long-tap and delete feature isn’t available. This is because, unlike messages, they are automatically deleted after a certain amount of time. You can choose whether to delete them after viewing or after twenty-four hours.

Well, if you want to set up automatic deletion of snaps on Snapchat, you have to follow these steps:

  1. At first, open the Snapchat app on your mobile device.
  2. Then, sign in to your Snapchat account using your credentials, if necessary.
  3. Long-tap the contact and select “More”.
  4. After that, tap on the “Delete Chats…” option.
  5. Now, choose either “After Viewing” or “24 Hours after Viewing”.

Once you have completed these steps, you will set up automatic deletion of snaps on Snapchat.

How to delete a conversation on Snapchat

If you’re less concerned about deleting a message from your history and more concerned about cleaning up your channel, there’s a relatively simple option that will allow you to really shorten your channel very quickly, namely by deleting all conversations.

This is a good way to clear your Snapchat if you’ve had a lot of conversations that you don’t want to see in your feed.

  • Long-tap the contact and select “More”.
  • Then, select “Clear Conversation”.
  • Finally, tap “Clear” to confirm the action.

Once you have completed these steps, your conversation will be deleted from your Snapchat channel.
