How to block YouTube on FireStick
Valeriy Odintsov / Tab-TV

YouTube is available on almost every platform, from smartphones to streaming devices. And, of course, it would be strange if the YouTube app wasn’t on Firestick. At the same time, although most people believe this service has to be available on their streaming device, some want to “block” it.

Honestly, you can’t block YouTube on your Firestick. However, there is a more efficient and easier way. You can uninstall this app. There are two ways to do this: through the apps library or settings menu. Moreover, if you want to block access to YouTube for your children, you can set up parental controls.

So let’s take a closer look at how to do this.

How to delete Youtube on Firestick via the Apps library

If you want to remove YouTube from your Firestick, you can do this through the Apps library. So follow these steps:

  • Press the Home button on your Firestick remote control and select Apps in the opening menu.
  • After that, highlight the YouTube app and press the Menu button on your remote control.
  • Then select Uninstall.
  • Finally, click Uninstall again to confirm this action.

Once you have completed these steps, you will remove YouTube from your Firestick.

How to delete Youtube on Firestick via Settings

If you want to remove YouTube from your Firestick via settings, you can follow these instructions:

  • Navigate to the Home menu and click on the gear icon to open Settings.
  • After that, select Applications.
  • Next, scroll down and click Manage Installed Applications. You will see a list of all apps installed on your Fire device.
  • Here select the YouTube app.
  • Then select Uninstall from the list of options.
  • Confirm this by clicking on the Uninstall button again.

That’s it. Now you won’t be able to find YouTube on your Firestick. But you can always install it again.

How to set up parental controls on Firestick

You can set up parental controls if you want to limit your children’s access to YouTube on your Firestick. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to the Home page on your Fire device and open Settings.
  • Then navigate to Preferences.
  • After that, select Parental Controls.
  • Now, you need to enter your PIN to enable this feature.

After completing these steps, you can select a watching restriction level to restrict the playback of videos with a particular age rating. Along with this, select the YouTube app and apply parental controls to the app.

How to clear the app’s cache on Firestick

In simple terms, caches are temporary files that apps create constantly. They provide apps with the necessary data to run and load content faster. However, sometimes these cache files become corrupted, which can cause apps to become unstable.

Clearing the cache is what fixes these problems. It doesn’t remove the app or the stored data, so you don’t have to worry about losing any information. So here’s what you should do:

  • Go to the Home page on your Fire device and open Settings.
  • After that, select Applications.
  • Next, scroll down and click Manage Installed Applications. You will see a list of all apps installed on your Fire device.
  • Here select the app which cache you want to clear.
  • Finally, click Clear cache.

Once you have completed these steps, you will clear the app’s cache on your Firestick. As you can see, there’s nothing complicated about it. But you should know one more thing.

You can use the Clear Data option if the app is still glitchy after clearing the cache. Keep in mind, however, that this completely reinstalls the app. Thus, you will lose account logins and parental controls (for this app).
