Fossil has finally released a watch with Wear OS 3, but it may not be what you expect. The model is named the Gen 6 Wellness Edition. It’s essentially an update of last year’s smartwatch focusing on software.

Google’s new software promises an easier-to-navigate interface with improved health tracking, including through Fossil’s Wellness app. You’ll also get new watch faces, including an exclusive “Wellness Gauge” to monitor vital signs.

The watch has also undergone some changes in appearance. The Wellness Edition includes a 44mm rose gold or silver steel case with a 20mm strap. Beyond that, however, it’s actually the Gen 6 you saw in 2021. That means a Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip from the 2020 era, a 1.28-inch round display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and 3ATM water resistance. You’ll be disappointed if you were expecting a Snapdragon W5+ or more storage for apps and music.

You can buy the Gen 6 Wellness Edition now for $299. Silicone straps to customize the look are available for $30 each. Fossil still makes some of the most beautiful watches on Wear OS. The exceptions are some luxury models, such as the Montblanc Summit 3. However, surely not everyone will be able to afford them.
