Stray is one of those cases where almost everyone liked the game. It’s not surprising, though, because it’s about a cute kitty cat. However, if you are a Mac user, you probably haven’t had a chance to play it yet.
This is because on Mac you need to resort to some tricks. There hasn’t been an official release on Mac yet so that you can play the game on it, but you will face some unobvious difficulties.
Is Stray available on Mac?
The short answer to that question is no. Stray is not officially supported on the Mac. It came out on platforms like PS4 and PS5, as well as Windows PCs. So on the Mac, you can’t just buy Stray and download it from the store.
However, there are some tricks you can use to play Stray. Of course, they’re not exactly convenient and will require extra effort and conditions from you, but they work.
There is no official information about the release of Stray on Mac. Still, from the immense popularity among the users and high sales, we hope the developers will expand the list of supported devices. In that case, Stray will appear on the Mac and maybe on the Nintendo Switch. The power of modern Macs or MacBooks is just enough for this game.
How can you play Stray using Mac?
Since Stray is not officially available on the Mac, you will have to resort to unconventional methods. The first thing I want to talk about is GeForce Now. GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service.
You need a cloud gaming service to run games remotely and stream the image to your device. And it can be your iPhone, a Mac, or even an iPad. All you need is a purchased Stray and a subscription to GeForce Now. And they even have a free version with limited gameplay sessions. Of course, you will need to take care of a good internet connection to keep latency to a minimum.
If cloud gaming is not your thing, you can install Windows on Mac. You can do that with Bootcamp preinstalled on your Mac. After installing Windows, you can download Steam buy Stray, and play it just like you would from a regular Windows laptop or PC.
Another method is to create your own Parallels Desktop. It can create a virtual server on which you install Windows, and you can run any Windows software you want on it. Note that you would have to pay a subscription to Parallels Desktop if you tried to use it.
Stray plot explained
At the center of the Stray story is a cute ginger cat. He wakes up in the morning surrounded by other cats in some vast complex where there is no one else, and they are doing their usual cat stuff. The protagonist cat inadvertently falls into the sewers and ends up in a big abandoned city.
In the game, it turns out that no people are left in this city, and robots populate it. You must find out what happened and how you can return to your kitty family.
The game captures its atmosphere and beautiful picture. Also, it has beautiful animations and interesting cat puzzles. I won’t say that it is the best game this year, but it is definitely worth your attention. Especially as it is completed in around 7-8 hours, it could be a good fun game for a few evenings.
